How did they become a legend?

The official name of this release is Independence Day, it was released in honor of America's Independence Day in 2019. These sneakers became known as "Betsy Ross" — the name of the American flag of the 18th century, which was depicted as one of the symbols of the war of independence. This was quite an ordinary thematic release, which turned into a rarity for collectors after the controversial decision of Nike not to release a ready-made batch for sale.

Football player, public figure and one of the ambassadors of Nike Colin Copernicus expressed the opinion that the chosen historical reference is unfortunate, since the "Betsy Ross" flag is a symbol of the time when slavery officially existed in the country. In the United States, there was a heated discussion about this, and Nike decided to recall the model. In a sense, the gesture was meaningless. Part of the circulation still went to the market: some Internet sites supported the brand and removed ads for the sale of these shoes, but not all did so.

Can I buy it? Now sneakers are on open sale, for example on "eBay" and Grailed. At the time of writing, prices on "eBay" ranged from $1,100 to $17,000. The price depends on the popularity of the size: collectors usually buy a pair of their own size, even if it is not planned to wear, so popular sizes are usually more expensive.
