[0.92] Visibility System Improvements
In our previous major update, we introduced a brand-new visibility system, completely reworking how target detection works. This was a significant and complex change aimed at making combat more realistic and tactically rich. However, the new system came with a number of issues โ and we want to thank everyone who helped us identify them.
Today, weโre releasing a patch that fixes the main problems with the new system and adds a number of long-awaited improvements. All the details are below.
๐ ๏ธ Key Fixes and Improvements
Detection delay removed
After leaving the visibility zone, a target will now remain visible for 15 seconds [+ "Recon Data" parameter], ensuring consistent visibility after contact.
Targets will no longer โblinkโ โ disappearing and suddenly reappearing on screen.
This change is especially important for aircraft carrier gameplay, where targets previously could vanish while switching between squadrons.
Viewpoint adjusted
The ship's vantage point, which detects enemies, is now located at the ship's radar point rather than strictly in the center of the ship's hull. This makes it possible to detect targets behind low obstacles.
Detection points reworked
Detection points are now placed on the bow, stern, and the highest part of the ship.
Additional detection points have been added along the sides for wider vessels like carriers and ekranoplans.
Previously, low-positioned detection points could cause a ship to be fully hidden behind small terrain objects. This is no longer the case.
Old AI aircraft targeting logic restored
AI-controlled aircraft will again attack detected targets in line of sight. If the target is detected but is behind cover, they will stay close to the carrier. This restores familiar mechanics for aircraft carrier players.
โ๏ธ Additional Improvements
Automatic minimap rotation โ No matter which team you spawn on, your ship will now always appear at the bottom of the minimap at the start of a match.
Auto-reverse for all ships โ For all ships added the ability to backtrack while switching to air control mode.
Separate threat indicators โ Players can now toggle threat display from ships and aircraft independently.
Aircraft stealth upgrades โ Available in the Workshop, but only for models with built-in stealth parameters.
Laser missile tracking on minimap โ Each launched laser-guided missile is now visible on the minimap.
Smoke screen blocks line of sight โ A smoke screen now interrupts line of sight if positioned between the observer and the target.
Minimum ship-to-ship detection distance increased โ Increased to 1.5 km.
Improved threat indicator readability โ Threat text is now easier to read.
