The Ostankino television tower was built in 1960-1967 in the USSR for the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution. At the time of construction, it was the highest building in the world, reflecting the power of a socialist power. At the moment, it is the tallest building in Europe with a height of 540 meters, which has been holding its status for more than 50 years!

The most interesting - at an altitude of 337 meters, the tower has an indoor and outdoor viewing platforms, as well as a restaurant with one feature.

It is noteworthy that in August 2000 a strong fire broke out on the tower, which lasted almost a day. The fire had to be extinguished from helicopters EMERCOM of Russia.

Since then, the tower has been fully restored and it continues to function.

How to visit?


Since the tower is both an object of cultural heritage and an existing technical structure, access to it is strictly regulated:

  • You must have ID with you
  • Children under the age of 6 are not allowed in the tower
  • People with reduced mobility are not allowed

On the upper floors of the tower is located one of the most famous restaurants in Moscow - "7 Sky". Its unique feature is that its floor rotates and makes a complete revolution in 40 minutes. During dinner, you can enjoy the evening view of the capital several times.


How to get there:

The tower is located in the north of Moscow. Not noticing it is not so simple. You need to get to the VDNKh station of the orange branch, and then transfer to bus number 15 to the Ulitsa Akademika Koroleva stop.


Tickets and prices:

On weekdays, a standard ticket costs 1200 rubles per adult and 800 rubles preferential (this includes many categories of citizens). There is an opportunity to save and buy a morning ticket for 900 and 600 rubles, respectively. A weekend visit will cost 1,400 and 900 rubles for an adult and a beneficiary. In addition, for sophisticated engineering enthusiasts there is an excursion with a visit to the internal structures of the tower. Its availability must be clarified in the information.
