Comfortable Crutch Hand Grips

Crutch Hand Grips

There are many types of Comfortable Crutch Hand Grips out there, each designed to meet a specific need. Hand grips are meant to protect the forearms from damage and promote proper posture while walking or exercising. In fact, there is even a medical term for this - postural syndrome. This means that having a good grip will help avoid injury. So what kind of grip are we talking about here?

- The Stiff-Grip. This is used by people with arthritis. It's a very hard plastic or metal hand-grip that has to be strapped on to the inside of the wrist. It is designed to prevent forearms from swinging and encourages the person to keep the forearms close together at all times. It provides support for the entire hand. This one is adjustable as needed.

- The Soft-Grip. People who need to hold onto stuff a lot to try out the soft-grip crutch hand grips. It's designed like a shirt pocket. You put your hands inside and it provides support for them. It's comfortable to hold because it is padded and allows your hands to stay in place.

- The Foot Crunches. These crutches are another form of crutch grip. They work in much the same way as the stiff-grip, although the feeling is different. This grip provides more pressure and support for the foot, encouraging the muscles to work harder. This one is used more often than the stiff-grip.

- The Over the Knee Hand Grips. This style of crutch hand grips was designed to grip the outside of the knee instead of over the top like most people are used to. You can't use this style of grip on the front foot. It's more comfortable to use on the back foot.

There are also other crutch grip styles to choose from. There are the traditional two-handed style crutch grip and the one-handed style. Two-handed crutch grips use the forefinger and index finger to grip the crutch. One-handed crutch grips use the thumb and the pinky finger. If you are using foot crunches you can also use a crutch grip with your dominant hand, but make sure it's not too tight!

So which one should you get? It's really a matter of preference. Some people like the feel of using a crutch grip, while others find it uncomfortable. If you want to be comfortable, buy a pair of regular grips. They are usually more comfortable than the specialty kinds.

Just make sure you clean your crutches regularly. Don't put them in the washing machine. Use a damp washcloth to wipe them down. And, as a final thought, don't wear your crutches with any socks. They will be ruined.

Another option is to buy two sets of comfortable grip crutches. Get one for each pair of feet. This way, if you switch hands, you still have one crutch to put on. Also this is very convenient, because you can take off one pair, change to the other one, and then put the first one back on!

The other option is to get a custom pair of crutches. This is by far the most expensive route, but it will also be the most comfortable. You can go to a custom sporting goods store, and have a professional make you a pair of crutches out of leather, mesh, vinyl, or any other material. Then, mount them for you. This is by far the most high-end option, and will be a real eye-catcher when you wear them!

But, of course, you can just as easily buy a crutch with a standard grip, or even a basic "one-piece" hand crutch. If you can't afford a custom crutch, you can use a regular one, just cut down on the padding, and you'll be good to go! You can even just get a regular pair of high quality cotton hand held rugs that you lay on your lap, on the floor, or even on a bed frame.

A comfortable crutch grip will make all the difference in the world. It is a matter of personal preference, but just remember that the grip is the thing that holds your crutches together, and it is critical that you get a grip that is as comfortable to hold as you can! If you're anything like me, it's tough to find crutches that fit comfortably, so try shopping online. You can often find better deals than you would in a store! Happy crunching!
