This is how you set up a contact form for your website!

Do you want visitors to contact you? For example, to ask questions about your products or services or to receive something such as a whitepaper or Excel sheet. Then you need a contact form on your website. In this blog I give you several options to install a contact form. In addition, I also explain how to prevent spam and how to comply with the GDPR law.

WordPress contact form plugins

Did you create your website with WordPress ? There are various plugins with which you can put a contact form on your website. I will go through a number of well-known plugins with you.

You can download plugins in WordPress under 'Plugins' -> 'New plugin'. Enter the name of the plugin here, click on 'Install' and then 'Activate'.

Don't have WordPress hosting yet? Then first choose your package and your domain name before you get started!

CONTACT FORM 7

You design your form yourself in the Contact Form 7 plugin . If you want to place the form on your website, copy the code and put it on the page (s) of your choice. You link your email address to the form, so as soon as someone fills in your contact form, you will receive an email with the message.

Do not forget to set an email address with your domain name , so that your email address is recognizable and you keep your emails well separated.

WPFORMS

With WPForms you use a handy drag-and-drop editor. So you click and drag the elements you want into your form. WPForms is not free, but it does give you the option to decorate your contact form nicely and provide it with various features.

The standard price for WPForms Basic is RS. 6,951.10, but usually there is a promotion. Sometimes even 50% discount, so keep an eye on the promotions if you don't want to spend too much money on it. Click here to visit wordpress website design company india

Contact form in MyWebsite

Did you create your website with the MyWebsite builder ? Even then you can easily create a contact form. Go to >> 'Content' >> 'Form', drag the form to the desired place on your website and click on the fields you want in your contact form.

With MyWebsite Pro you also have the option to add your own HTML if you want to use code for the contact form.

Other contact form solutions

You can also create a contact form via external websites and put the code in your website. Some examples of this are:

PHP FORM

If you want a simple contact form where you can still determine the design, then PHP-form may be the best solution for you. You can change things like the color of your contact form and what exactly will be in it yourself. Ready? The tool generates HTML code that you can put in the code of your website.

MAILCHIMP

If you have a website, a Mailchimp account is very useful to have. With this you create emails, pop-up forms and you guessed it: contact forms. If you do not yet have that many contacts and do not want to use all the functionalities, you can first use the free version of Mailchimp.

You can also easily create your own contact form with this tool. Adjust this to the house style of your website and indicate which information you want to request from your contacts. All contacts who fill in the form will also automatically be placed in Mailchimp. This is useful if, for example, you want to send them a newsletter (you must ask permission for this in the form).

Prevent spam with reCAPTCHA

It is nice that visitors can contact you if you have a contact form on your website, but you do not want all spam between your emails. To counter that, you can use reCAPTCHA. If someone then fills in the contact form, they must first demonstrate that they are not a robot. With reCAPTCHA v3, your visitor only has to tick 'I am not a robot', with reCAPTCHA v2 the visitor gets the well-known puzzles with, for example, traffic lights.

To set up reCAPTCHA:

  1. Go to Google's reCAPTCHA website
  2. Click on the plus sign, enter your domain name at 'Domains' and choose the reCAPTCHA version you want
  3. If you click on 'Send' you will see two keys
  4. Use the API keys for your website. With WordPress you do this for example at 'Contact' -> 'Integration'

SSL certificate required for contact forms

Whichever contact form you put on your website, do not forget the SSL certificate . This encrypts the connection between your website and the browser of your visitors. This way, third parties can no longer read the data of your visitors. This is not only important for the results of your website (visitors have more confidence and your website will rank higher in search results), but it is also mandatory under the AVG law as soon as you request data on your website.

Find out which SSL certificate suits you and secure your website.
