Day 2 — Speaking Task 1: Listen & Repeat

Phase I · Speaking · Day 2 of 3 · ⏱ ~2 hours

📍 You are here: Day 1 – Orientation → Day 2 – Task 1 (Listen & Repeat) → Day 3 – Task 2 (Take an Interview)

Today is all about one exam task: Task 1 – Listen & Repeat (7 sentences, repeat each exactly). We learn the strategy, then practice.

🎯 Today's goal: Know the common Listen & Repeat challenges, learn the checklist, and do one real recorded practice round.

You're done when: you've recorded at least one full practice set and scored yourself against the checklist.

⏰ Step 1 — Daily Warm-Up: Content-Word Stress

Natural Listen & Repeat means stressing the content words (nouns, main verbs) and swallowing the small words.

🎥 Step 2 — Learn the strategy

Watch each video, then read the PDF it introduces.

Pick ONE weak area to focus on today (e.g., rhythm, memory span, pronunciation, speed). Working on one area at a time is far more effective than several at once.

🛠 Step 3 — Learn how to practice

🎙 Step 4 — Practice + self-score

  1. Do a Listen & Repeat set on one of the tools above.
  2. Record yourself (your phone is fine — use the same device every day).
  3. Run through the Practice Checklist and mark each point Yes/No.
  4. Repeat the set until you can check more boxes than last time.

💡 Pro Tips

  • Focus on rhythm and stress, not speed. A slow, perfect repetition scores higher than a fast, garbled one.
  • Copy the sounds, not the spelling. Pronounce final sounds clearly.
  • Don't stop to correct yourself mid-sentence — it breaks fluency.
  • Same recording device every day builds your "voice memory."
