How to start an online beauty school in the USA from scratch and earn $16,000 in one month 💰

I've been in the industry of online education for over two years now. With my producer project in Russia (an online school of permanent makeup) we made 8 launches during 1,5 years with the average sales 13 000 USD per launch, which brought us to 167,000 USD during this period

Half a year ago I started to work on the international market and launched an online course in the USA in the beauty niche (lash extension). In this article I will share the process and the results

First I had to choose a course author to work with.

My criteria of selection of the expert were the following:

  • over three years of teaching experience (online or offline)
  • proven results of the students
  • minimum 500 profiles reached with stories on Instagram on average

Out of a hundred and fifty experts, after a series of meetings, I chose one to work with:

We started working with Anna, an expert in the field of eyelash extensions. She has been living in the USA for more than 10 years, speaks fluent English, has good teaching experience and offline students.

BUT the expert, despite decent number of followers, had around 300 people reached with her stories on average

We decided to work anyway, because the rest of the points outweighed!

1. At the first stage, we wrote down product hypotheses and approximate portraits of the target audience, and then conducted a customer development interviews, thanks to which we confirmed our ideas and learned better about the problems, pains and needs of the target audience. We formed a mind-map of the audience, developed the format and the content of the product

2. At the second stage, we decided to test the sales of the product in the MVP format, announced a recruitment for a focus group on the topic “How to make eyelash extension with retention up to 6 weeks and doubel the average check”. The topic resonated with the audience so much that we sold all the spots in 1.5 days for a total of $3,000

Now we had a budget for building the sales funnel, hiring the first specialists and traffic!

3. And the third stage, we started to prepare an online sales event (webinar). We created a lead magnet, letters, developed a landing page for registrations, and a landing page of the course, put together the structure of the webinar, prepared a presentation, hired specialists for traffic and technical support.

The first webinar went well. We made 6 sales at once for $3.500!

And in the next 2 weeks our sales were more than $10,000.
