Vermont Eye Care hit by data breach affecting 30K patients


A massive cyberattack on the located in Rutland, VT, Central Vermont Eye Care compromised records for up to 30,000 patients.

The practice reported the data security incident i an Apr. 6 notice:

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights was made aware of the breach.

Central Vermont Eye Care provides ophthalmologic and optometric care, according to its website. It reportedly employees about 25 people.

Console and Associates, a law firm, is investigating the breach, according to JD Supra.

Further details about the breach have not been discovered.

WH Smith, major British retailer, has confirmed that Funky Pigeon has halted all further orders after a security incident. The company's social media feeds told customers late last week that "technical issues" were delaying new business being processed.
