Toyota stops production in Japan after cyberattack

Toyota Motor informed it's suspending factory operations in Japan since Mar. 1 due to a suspected hacker attack.

Kojima Industries Corp., based in Toyota city in Japan, said on Feb. 28 that an error was detected in its computer server network.

Toyota noted its network could not communicate properly with monitor production, although there was nothing physically wrong with the production equipment.

Tomohiro Takayama, Kojima spokesperson, reported Toyota was investigating and working to fix the cyber security incident:

This has never happened before. We are not sure yet if it is a cyberattack, but we suspect it might be one.

The company said in email that the apologize to their clients and make every possible effort to continue to work:

We apologize to our customers and suppliers for any inconvenience this may cause. We will continue to work with our suppliers to strengthen the supply chain and make every effort to deliver vehicles to our customers as soon as possible.

Hacker group Anonymous hacked over 300 sites of Russian government agencies, state media and banks yesterday. Websites of leading Belarusian banks, including Belarusbank, Priorbank and Belinvestbank, are also unavailable.
