Travel giant Cleartrip confirms data breach
One of the popular travel-booking platforms in India, Cleartrip, has confirmed a data breach after threat actors claimed to post the stolen information on the Dark Web.
Cleartrip is a global online travel firm, headquartered in Mumbai. The firm operates an online travel aggregator website for booking flights, train tickets, hotel reservations, and activities in India and the Middle East countries. It holds offices across India, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt
Cleartrip reported it is taking legal action against the threat actors.
We have identified a security anomaly in a few of our internal systems. Our information security team is currently investigating the matter along with a leading external forensics partner and is taking the necessary action.
Appropriate legal action and recourse are being evaluated and steps are being taken as per the law.
Last week, hackers were selling these data on an invite-only forum on the Dark Web. The price was not mentioned in the post.
