Ukrainian banks and military agencies under DDoS attacks
The Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the largest Ukrainian banks, Privatbank and Oschadbank, are being hammered by Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks.
On Feb. 15, Ukrainian cyber police reported that bank clients got text messages informing that bank ATMs were down, adding that they were "part of an information attack and do not correspond to reality."
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, whose site still unavailable, reported:
Website was probably attacked by DDoS: an excessive number of requests per second was recorded.
Starting from the afternoon of February 15, 2022, there is a powerful DDOS attack on a number of information resources of Ukraine.
In particular, this caused interruptions in the work of web services of Privatbank and Oschadbank. The websites of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine were also attacked.
While the Ukrainian defense ministry website has been hacked, Oschadbank's and Privatbank's websites are still accessible although users cannot log in to their online accounts.
Numerous Ukrainian government websites were taken offline on Jan. 14. The Ministry of Education and Science has confirmed a massive hacker attack. The websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Energy, the State Emergency Service, and the Diia website also did not work.
