Ubisoft confirmed data breach, game Just Dance 2022 targeted

The games developer Ubisoft discovered a hacker attack on its IT systems. Threat actors were aimed the popular game franchise Just Dance.

The Just Dance team reported in the forum publication that Ubisoft investigation has not shown that any Ubisoft account data has been compromised as a result of this incident.

This incident was the result of a misconfiguration, that once identified, was quickly fixed, but made it possible for unauthorized individuals to access and possibly copy some personal player data.

Ubi confirmed that users' personal data may have been accessed after threat actors took advantage of a 'misconfiguration' to steal sensitive information.

In its statement the company explained that the data breach was limited to ‘technical identifiers’ including GamerTags, profile IDs, and device IDs, as well as recordings of Just Dance videos that were downloaded to be shared with the gaming community and on social media profiles.

The gaming giant strongly recommended its customers to reset any passwords and enable two-factor authentication.

Recently, the large-scale popularity of the Netflix show Squid Game has been noticed by cyber attackers who are crafting Windows and Android malware. The application, entitled Squid Wallpaper 4K HD, was being used to infect Android phones with the Joker malware.
