Oklahoma City Housing Authority confirmed cyberattack

Oklahoma City Housing Authority (OCHA) notified individuals of data incident. This notice provides details about the incident, and resources available to help protect information.

On Dec. 21, OCHA discovered unauthorized emails were sent from an OCHA email account. OCHA quickly launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party forensic specialists to determine what may have happened. Through the investigation, OCHA could not rule out the possibility that an unauthorized actor accessed OCHA email accounts between Nov. 30 and Dec.21.

As a result, it is possible the unauthorized actor accessed certain files. OCHA reviewed those files to determine what, if any, sensitive information was contained therein. This review was completed on June 7. Thereafter, OCHA worked to locate address information for impacted people in order to notify them of this event, which was completed on June 16.

he impacted information varied by individual but may include:

  • Full name,
  • SSN (Social Security number),
  • Driver's license,
  • Financial account information,
  • Health information.

As a part of our ongoing commitment to privacy of information in their care, OCHA reviewed its existing systems and policies and implemented additional safeguards to further secure the information in its systems. OCHA is offering 12-24 months of complimentary access to identity monitoring services through Experian.

In the same time, the notorious ransomware group Lockbit hacked the Italian Revenue Agency and added the government agency to the list of victims reported on its Dark Web leak site.
