Defense giant Hensoldt confirmed Lorenz ransomware attack
Hensoldt, a multinational corporation headquartered in Germany which achieved gross sales of 1.2 billion euros in 2020, has confirmed that some of its UK subsidiary’s programs have been affected in a ransomware attack.
Earlier, the Lorenz ransomware gang claimed to have stolen numerous files from Hensholdt's systems during the ransomware attack. The Lorenz operators has published 95% of all leaked files posted on the Dark Web in the form of password-protected archives since Dec. 17, 2021.
On Jan. 12, Hensoldt's Head of Public Relations, Lothar Belz, confirmed Lorenz's statements about a cyber attack:
I can confirm that a small number of mobile devices in our UK subsidiary has been affected.
A Hensholdt spokesman denied providing detailed information regarding the hacker attack, saying that 'for obvious reasons, we do not disclose any more details in such cases.'
Recently, American nonprofit Goodwill disclosed a data breach on its e-commerce auction platform. The highly sensitive information was not exposed.
