Israel's Health Ministry website hacked by pro-Iranian hackers, oversea access blocked
Israel's Health Ministry site faced disrupted access to users abroad due to a hacker attack, the ministry reported on July 17.
The ministry reported that the matter was being dealt with internally and by the e-Government unit, a state organization responsible for maintaining internet services.
Pro-Iranian hackers Altahrea Team based in Iraq claimed responsibility for the cyber security incident.
The hackers wrote on its Telegram channel that the attack was carried out because Israel bombed the Gaza Strip over the weekend, among other reasons, including sanctions on Iran that the hackers claimed are killing thousands.
Last month, Iranian major steel firm reported it was forced to halt production after being hit by a hacker attack.
The Iranian government did not acknowledge the disruption or blame any specific group for the assault on the state-owned Khuzestan Steel Co., which constitutes just the latest example of an attack crippling the country's services in recent months amid heightened tensions in the region.
