GiveSendGo hacked: info of 92,000 donors to 'freedom convoy' leaked

GiveSendGo, the Christian crowdfunding website that helped raise $8,700,000 for the anti-vax 'freedom convoy' in Canada, was hacked on Feb. 13.

Due to a cyberattack personal information of more than 92,000 donors, including their names, were leaked online. Reportedly, the database of 92,845 donors is no longer available on the website.

Users who visited the website on Feb. 13 were redirected to GiveSendGone.wtf, where they got a video from the Disney film Frozen which contained a message from hackers. A portion of the video was uploaded by Mikael Thalen to Twitter before it was taken down:

According to the hackers' message, where they pointed out that the Canadian trucker protest has inspired copycat protests worldwide:

Trucker convoys are now either taking place or being planned all over the world. Has anyone really thought about how dangerous this is, especially during these times?

The threat actors also said in their message about the Canadian government's report:

The Canadian government has informed you that the money you assholes raised to fund an insurrection is frozen.

It was a reference to the situation that on Feb. 11, the Superior Court of Justice in Ontario granted a restraining order demanded by the Government of Ontario against the crowdfunding system, requiring that protesters’ funds be frozen.

In response to the hackers' message, GiveSendGo dismissed the court order and tweeted:

Canada has absolutely ZERO jurisdiction over how we manage our funds here at GiveSendGo. All funds for EVERY campaign on GiveSendGo flow directly to the recipients of those campaigns.

The Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the largest Ukrainian banks, Privatbank and Oschadbank, also suffer cyber attacks.
