Disneyland's Instagram and Facebook hit by "super hacker"
On July 7, Disneyland’s Instagram and Facebook accounts were hacked by a self-proclaimed threat actor who posted a series of racist posts.
Operating under the name “David Do,” the hacker claimed he was seeking “revenge” on Disneyland staff after some of them had allegedly insulted him:
I am a super hacker that is here to bring revenge upon Disneyland [...] Who’s the tough guy now Jerome?
However, the culprit made four posts on Disneyland’s Instagram account before 5 am PT, according to a post on the Disneyland blog.
The posts received thousands of comments of shock and outrage from Disney’s 8 million followers.
The Disneyland Facebook and Instagram accounts were temporarily taken down shortly after the posts went live and were brought back online after the team removed the posts.
Disneyland' team reported that they worked quickly to remove the reprehensible content, secure their accounts and their security teams are conducting an investigation.
Last week, a 12,500-student community college in California also has been hit by a hacker attack that brought down the school’s online services and campus phone lines.
