Logistics giant Expeditors hit by ransomware attack, systems disrupted

Global logistics giant $4.3 billion in revenue during the fourth quarter, Expeditors International, has shut down its operations systems after being targeted in a ransomware attack.

The company reported the incident on Feb. 20 in a statement on its website:

Expeditors noted it was investigating the cyberattack as it worked to restore its networks. It did not give an estimate when usual operations might resume. The company said:

While our systems are shut down we will have limited ability to conduct operations, including but not limited to arranging for shipments of freight or managing customs and distribution activities for our customers’ shipments.

Expeditors warned that the ransomware attack “could have a material adverse impact on our business, revenues, results of operations and reputation.”
