To start using the TSW Strategy Finder, you previously need to have added, selected and active the "BT Trend Switcher" indicator. And the Strategy Tester tab, with the Overview tab, enabled. The extension will open automatically the BT popup window if it is closed.

4. HOW TO USE

In this YouTube video, you will learn the best methodologies and practices when using Trend Switcher Indicator to increase your potential ROI. Special thanks to @Hairo for sharing this info.

The extension contains some cool extra features like:

  • Random Numbers: Randomize the search within a set range of values. For example, in the image below, the finder will try 10 different random values among 100 and 200.

Export to CSV: let you export all the results in a csv file.

Setting the ranges

The extension can look for upto 3 different variables at the same time, but if you switch on RANDOM ITERATIONS option, you can run any number of variables at the time. In the above image, we are looking to backtest results for only the first 2 variables. Always use the format x-y. For example, numbers from 10 to 50 (10-50).

The bigger the range, the most time it will take. But you can change browser tab and the extension will keep working. Is advisable that when you change tab, you let the extension running on a separate browser window.

IMPORTANT: Depending on the memory ram you have, is not advisable to run more than 5k or 10k iterations each time. The amount of iterations depends on the current ram available. When you finish a large session, close the that tab and open a new one to flush memory.

You can click on "Extra Settings" switch, to show all other BT PS fields.

Increment Switch (Or working with decimal values)

There are certain occasions when you have to deal with decimals on some fields, like Stop Loss and Take Profit.

Increment Switch for decimals

For this you need to switch on the "Increment" field and follow 2 simple rules.

1. When using the RANDOM ITERATIONS with an Increment field, you will write the number of decimals you want to switch. Example for 0.1 is 1... For 0.001 is 3.

Example of testing 50 random decimals with increments of 0.1 in the range from 1 to 5.

2. When not using RANDOM ITERATIONS, you write the exact decimal you want to increment. Examples: 0.1, 0.05, etc.

Example of testing sequential decimals with increments of 0.1 in the range from 1 to 5.

Checking the results

Once your ranges are set, click the "RUN" button. The wider the ranges are, the more time it will take to backtest. For this reason, start with a small test range in one variable, to see how the extension works. For example "Entry Ribbon Length: 10-20".

See how the progress bar reaches 100%.

Once done, you can click the "RESULTS" button. Results will be ranked from the top best "Net Profit" results.

Clicking the ranking position number, will load the values used in the backtesting into the BT Profit Sniper popup window.

Once you're satisfied with the results in the BT, you can use the "COPY TO PS" function (only available in Premium), to send the strategy to the main PS indicator.
