Dry film photoresists are used in the fabrication of mold and MEMS systems. It is thus, a type of thick film. Although, the resolution and aspect ratio being low as compared with different types, it is still a major type of application used in the end-use industry. This has been a major driving force of the PCB since it occurs with high density, low cost and great accuracy. In simple terms, dry film photoresist is still the best choice in PCB industry, even though novel types are available and are being fabricated with high aspect ratio for several applications.

Technically and commercially, dry film photo-resists reveal numerous advantages and it is possible to laminate in parallel on various substrates with several size and shapes. It is also highly possible to laminate multilayer with a single substrate owing to polarization effect. Till date, the dry film photoresists have reported low hazards on human health and there is no use of organic solvents that prove harmful to human health.

Dry-film photoresist appears different than liquid photoresist. It occurs in the shape of sandwich wherein the top layer comprises a separation sheet having PET with a small thickness. Bottom layer is the protective film with PE with the same thickness of top layer and the middle layer comprises photosensitive. The thickness of middle layer usually depends on application that ranges from a few micron to a hundred microns. Other components of photosensitive layers are photo initiators, monomers, polymer binder and other additives such as adhesion and dyes. Monomers hold a high importance as dry components within a dry film. There is a vast process for plating and electroplating pertaining to the manufacture of dry film photoresist while the preprocess operations mainly depend on the primary metal materials.

Dry Film Photoresist Market Drivers:

The dry film photoresist market is driven by rise in construction of residential homes that encompass nanotechnology. Technological advancements is likely to increase the use of nano devices is a major factor boosting the market growth during the forecast period. Growing commercial value and the rise in number of vendors in the dry film photoresist market is likely to trigger the market growth for end-users. Moreover, use of nano-particles for electronic devices is significantly contributing in developing a robust market. In other terms, use of ICs, semiconductors and transistors is vividly influencing the commercial position for dry film photoresist.
