2 WAYS TO IMPROVE GUT HEALTH

Most of us are now aware of the importance and need for good gut health. As a whole, society has a wider knowledge of the things that can kill off bad bacteria as well as some of the remedies that can help to repopulate the gut.

  1. GENTLE GOAT'S MILK

With the rise of veganism in the western world, the popularity of nut milk has also seen an increase. But what can you do if you are allergic to nuts? Or if you cannot tolerate the taste of alternative grain drinks such as rice, hemp, or oat?

Enter Goat's milk. Goat's milk is rich in prebiotics which encourages the growth of good bacteria and thereby supports the health of the gut microbiome and bodies immune system. It's also naturally easier to digest because it can be broken down more easily during digestion. Just like cow's milk, you can now find it in skimmed, semi-skimmed, and whole milk options. Try your local supermarket or whole food stores to see which brands they stock and just as with nut milk, be careful to choose an option with as little additives and gums as possible.

2. PREBIOTICS

Are you getting the most out of your probiotic? If you ensure that the brands you choose, contain prebiotic fibre, you can be confident that you're getting the most complete benefit. Probiotics are bacteria that live in your body naturally and help your intestines break down food. ... The use of prebiotics and probiotics together is called microbiome therapy. You don't need to take a prebiotic for probiotics to work, but taking them could make your probiotics more effective.

Prebiotic foods are high in special types of fibre that support digestive health. They promote the increase of friendly bacteria in the gut, help with various digestive problems, and even boost your immune system. Prebiotic foods have also been shown to improve metabolic health and even help prevent certain diseases. So next time you're stocking up, make sure to check that you have both pre and probiotics covered.
