Snapchat offers you the opportunity to create your own filters. You can again choose from geo-filter to moment filter, or paid-filter, etc. You can create a filter from your iOS phone but isn’t available on Android phones. Filters can be created on Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator.

But firstly, decide what type of filter you want to create? If you’re creating a filter to promote your business or brand, you’ll have to pay for the filter. Creating geo and moments filters is free of any charges. Remember to go through Snapchat’s community guideline before you begin creating your filter. Creators will have certain limitations, and their filters must be original.

Once you are aware of the terms and conditions, begin your creativity.

Create filter on iOS

  1. Install the Snapchat app on your device and create an account on it.
  2. Go to settings and tap on the ‘Filter and Lenses’.
  3. Click on the filter, and a new page will pop-up where you can customize your filter.
  4. Once you’re satisfied with your filter, click on upload.

Create filter on the computer

  2. Slide down the page to locate ‘Community Filters’. Click on it.
  3. Now you have the option to choose either Geofilter or Moment Filters.
  4. If you choose Geofilter, you’ll have to select the location size/ zone on the map. Only the designated areas will be able to see your filter.
  5. If you choose Moment Filters, you’ll only have to upload and submit your design to Snapchat.

Paid Filter

  1. If you want to create a paid filter on Snapchat, go to the Snapchat web and click on ‘Filter and Lenses.’
  2. Click on ‘Filters’ and begin designing your filter from the templates available. You can also change font style, color, and size, along with adding pictures to it. It also allows you to add Bitmoji, i.e., a 3D cartoon version of yourself and your friends to it.
  3. Once you are satisfied with your filter, click on ‘Dates’ and the time period of your filter. You can make it a one-day filter or extend it up to a few days.
  4. Then go to Locations and click on the area/ zone you want to show your Geofilter.
  5. When you’re satisfied with the changes made, you can proceed to submit and pay for your filter on the ‘Checkout’ section.

The filter creation procedure remains somewhat the same on iOS as well as on the computer. One more point to keep in mind is that Snapchat will approve your filter before it starts showing on the filters section. You’ll receive a confirmation mail from Snapchat, notifying you that your filter is now live.

You can then check your filter by opening the Snapchat app and touching on the screen to see the filter. Try it on, show it off, promote and share your filter.
