Sushmita Dev joins TMC after resigning from Congress

New Delhi: Congress women's wing president Sushmita Dev Joins has resigned, dealing a major blow to the party. Since then, Sushmita Dev has joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) . TMC National General Secretary and CM Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee was present on the occasion.

According to sources, former Congress MP Sushmita had tendered her resignation to party president Sonia Gandhi on August 15. Last week, Sushmita Dev accompanied the new Assam Congress team to meet Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi . Not only that, he also met Rahul Gandhi at the Delhi airport when Rahul was returning from Srinagar.

It is learned that after joining the Trinamool Congress, Sushmita can now become the party in-charge of Tripura , where assembly elections are to be held next year. The late Santosh Mohan Dev, the father of Bengali Sushmita Dev, originally from Bengal, has twice won the Lok Sabha elections from Tripura West and five times from Silchar.
