How To Fix A Sliding Glass Door Lock

1. Determine The Lock Model

The first step is to determine the lock model. Most of the sliding doors have surface mount locks. There is another popular lock system known as a mortise lock. Find the name of the lock model etched on the door. You can also take a picture and show it at the nearest hardware store to get a compatible lock.

2. Find A Replacement Lock

Finding a replacement lock is easy if you have successfully determined the lock type. All you need to do is to show the name or picture of the lock to the store owner. In most cases, you can find the same lock mode for replacement. If the same model is not available, find one that can be installed without making new holes in the glass panels.

3. Gather The Tools
