Towards Smarter Villages

In recent times, the smart village concept has managed to attract the attention of both the general public and the authorities. The truth is that the smart village concept includes the use of the latest technological advances to achieve a greater degree of digitalization of rural areas. If you consider that the analogous concept of Smart City is currently very developed, very little work has been done even with the concept of Smart Village.

For this and other reasons, we have been working on the development of a self-assessment mechanism that allows us to calculate the degree of smartness that a given village has at a given time. This calculation takes into account up to 24 variables that have been defined by an international group of experts. In addition, once the degree of smartness has been calculated it is possible to know the experiences of other peoples that have achieved a similar value.
