A Special Orientation for the Students of KITC at SIUT

1. Goals

  1. Mind-setting: Awakening the public-mindedness resided in the minds of the students so that they realize the reason for studying at KITC is not just for maximizing their personal self-interest, but for enhancing the welfare of others, other people in Uzbekistan and beyond such as in other countries all over the world. This is the core of the Korean spirit, called “Sonbi Jungshin” (meaning the spirit of scholars), which enabled the Korean miracle.
  2. Team-building: Transforming the individual students into a one team of the students of KITC within SIUT so that a unique intellectual community of responsible young adults can be built as a result of intermingle with each other and with professors of KITC while sharing the same spirit of public mindedness.

2. Date & Time

From 8:00 am till 9:30 pm on September 8, 2023

3. Composition of Sessions

Session 1 (Outside of the Campus): Enlightening the Spirit of Public Mindedness

  • Cleaning up the street and park around the Registan Square
  • Meditation about the self and the future of the students on the Registan Square
The participating students are supposed to bring their own instruments for cleaning such as gloves, a trash bag, a hat, a towel, and etc.

T-shirts to be gifted by Dean of KITC to the students participating in the event

Session 2 (Conference Hall): Introduction to Korean culture and to the study and training abroad in Korea

  1. Watching the collection of video clips about the beauty of Korean traditional and contemporary arts: paintings, songs, dances, clothes, crafts, and etc.
  2. Decorating the conference hall with Korean ornaments.
  3. Experiencing the Korean teas, and traditional clothes called “Hanbok.”
  4. Tasting the Korean traditional foods to be provided as lunch to the participating students.
  5. Introducing the study-abroad programs in Korea under preparation such as “study tour in Korea,” “internship in Korea,” and “3+1 dual degree program”.

Session 3 (Each Deartment’s Own Classroom) – Discussion and Games for Team-building

  1. Discussion of how each department of KITC should be and what the students wish to do.
  2. Playing games for team-building.

Session 4 (Each Department’s Own Classroom & Conference Hall)

Election of the student representatives for each department as well as KITC as a whole
