...Portishead's new album is going to be released many months later or at the end of 2004 as it seems that they have problems with the record company.Portishead's interview to GrandSlam magazine last month was pretty conclusive for fans to know the band's future plans. Geoff Barrow is applying his experience in the indusrty to his latest venture, Invader Records along with fellow Bristolian Fat Paul and they are going to support some bands like Gonga (Bristol rock band) and Black On Sunshine (from LA.)Portishead's music industry situation isn't deal because their Go! Beat lebel has finally moved from Universal to Island and it seems to be a problem in politics block progress between the band and the company. Geoff: "basically the way it works for me, it's a real basic point of if I make a company a lot of money, I would expect a certain amount of respect". Portishead, as a band (Beth, Barrow, Utley) worked *finally* together on a track for a French compilation album of Serge Gainsbourg covers (Requiem Por Un Con). For someone reading carefully the interview can realise that the the band is stronger but also confused about the sound of the new album and their activities *as a band*. The band members are doing a lot of other projects irrelevant to Portishead (psychomania soundtrack, jimi entley sound 45, mckay), Beth's project with Paul Webb (Out of Season) so.... when we should see a Portishead release? That answer could be given only by them."Musically I don't give a shit what anybody says, and I'm sure Geoff feels exactly the same about that, more than I do actually", Adrian concludes. "The biggest thing is making the record right, and making the music good, and something we're into. And if we're into it, then our solidarity is enormous, and everybody else can just go fuck themselves. Because you know it's going to be cool in the end, if you like it."

Самое интересное во всей истории, что сейчас Портисхеды, а точнее "Beth Gibbons with other stars like Mickey 3D, Brian Ferry and many more is participating in Jane's Birkin's new album "rendez-vous" released on 30 March 2004".

Еще года два (ну, может, полтора) назад я купил пластинку их b-sides, изданную теми же непонятными пиратами Invisible halahup. Там были почти все миксы, вышедшие только на синглах. И было четыре бонус-трека Portishead feat. Jane Birkin.
