Deism & Poem by Somebody

Benjamin Franklin, after some years of following religious rituals and spectating religious conflicts between various confessions, became a deist.

As far as I heard, he felt no use in following religious rituals. Instead, he focused on nurturing virtues in himself and had a diary where he checked from time to time if he does enough for his virtues.

Moreover, I heard Franklin was asking God to help him in his endeavors and save him in case he still gets into trouble.

I recollect what my friend once wrote (my on-the-go translation from Russian):

God and I, we are playing ping-pong.

I do always lose.

Do I enjoy being fool all the time?

No, I just play with a stronger competitor.

Who is competitor, you, little fool,

God has created you from mud and some clay.

Maybe, you'd like to taste apple again?

Or are you appealed by uncharted darkness of grave?

Don't think so, too much do I love my flesh.

But flesh has no power without some soul.

However, when gambling with God all the time,

It's easy to transform into a creature from ether.

Do you want to discover, my son, what is doom?

Try reading more intelligent books.

Brain is a tool tailored for eternal search.

Just don't get a hole in a zero when you read.

Original text:
