XEON Processor
Intel is the first and largest manufacturer of computer processors. It has been announced since the beginning of the XEON processor manufacturing project. During these two decades, with the advancement of manufacturing technology, Intel has been able to design and produce a new generation of powerful processors.
Early versions of Zeon processors were very simple and, of course, bulky. They had low processing speeds and were based on the same first-generation Pentium processors. But over time, this series of processors were completely separated from other processors. Designing and building Xeon processors marked a new revolution in the field of processors.
1. Introducing the first and second-generation Xeon processors
The first generation of Zeon processors was based on the design of Pentium CPUs. The first processors designed were known as P6-Based or Pentium-Xeon.
Late in the year, P Pentium II Xeon processors were introduced. The basis of the calculations of this processor was 16-bit. For the first time, two levels of cache storage were used. The first layer had 50 KB and the second layer had a maximum of 3 MB. At best, the frequency of this processor reached 451 MHz.
After a few years, they switched to Netburst-based Xeon-based design. The second generation of Zeon processors had higher processing speeds. Their design was based on nanometer design. This design was very difficult and complex in its time, and designing and building a processor of this size was a great success.
These processors were based on 4 bits. This increased the computing speed. Some second-generation Zeon processors also used the third layer of cache to get the result.
2. Introducing the third generation of Xeon processors
The third generation of Zeon processors was developed in such a way that two cores were used for processing at the same time. That is, they were Core-based Xeon. The presence of another core practically doubled the computing speed.
Intel went on to develop kernel-based Zeon processors, which happen to be the best processors in the world right now. After designing and building these processors, three layers were used. The design base was reduced to 65 nanometers. As a result, they were able to increase the processing speed to 3.5 GHz.
But the main drawback was the CPU power consumption. The best third-generation processors needed at least 65 watts of power to be efficient. So to design the next generation, Intel turned its attention to reducing power consumption.
3. The new generation of Zeon CPU
Intel currently manufactures Zeon processors in four different classes. In the following, we will review each class. This division made any processor suitable for a job.
Although the original purpose of the development of Xeon processors was to use them in comprehensive hosting and servers, but gradually with their popularity and power, they were preferred to be used in home computers and laptops.
a. Xeon E Processors
This class was developed for laptops and home computers. According to Intel, these models are designed for heavy-duty rendering and processing.
A new technology has been used in its processing security, which will not reduce the speed of calculations. In addition, this class has UHD graphics. This graphic allows the processor to do a limited amount of image processing as well.
b. Xeon W Processors
This series of processors is specially optimized for their power consumption. Their processing speed is very high and they are usually multi-core so that they can perform a large amount of computations in less time. These series of processors usually have a high cache capacity and do not support older generation hardware.
c. Xeon D Processors
This series also has very low power consumption. They are optimized and can perform large volumes of calculations in a short time. This series of zeon processors is designed for heavy work and its uses are usually space and nuclear system.
d. Xeon Scalable Processor
This model is also known as Platinum. These series have much higher computational speeds. The so-called real-time calculations are performed and have a very high reliability. This class has 4 main categories. In the following categories, we introduce this group.
