Project: Smart Shopping: Style, Savings, and Sustainability

Objectives:

By the end of the project, students will be able to: • Use English to discuss, negotiate, and present ideas on shopping. • Apply vocabulary for shopping, money, and consumer products in speaking and writing. • Practice functional language for giving advice, comparing products, and making recommendations. • Analyze personal and peer shopping habits. • Create a collaborative product (video, magazine, presentation, or roleplay) in English.Final Product Options (choose one): 1. 📰 Shopping Guide for Teens – A digital or printed magazine with product reviews, tips for saving money, and eco-friendly shopping ideas. 2. 🎥 Video Show – A mock TV program about shopping that includes street interviews, product reviews, and “best buy” recommendations. 3. 🎭 Roleplay/Drama – A short scene in a shopping setting (mall, market, or online store) showing negotiation, decision-making, or a funny situation. 4. 📊 Presentation – A visual presentation on shopping trends among teenagers, based on surveys or interviews.Project Stages

Week 1 – Introduction & Research • Learn and practice vocabulary: price, bargain, receipt, refund, discount, brand, eco-friendly, second-hand, luxury, necessity. • Class discussion: “Are you a shopaholic or a smart shopper?” • Read and listen to materials about shopping habits and trends. • Form groups and choose the project type.Week 2 – Planning • Assign roles: leader, researcher, writer, speaker, designer, editor. • Create an outline and project plan (what will be included, who does what, and when). • Teacher checks and gives feedback on outlines.Week 3 – Production • Conduct surveys, interviews, or online research about shopping habits. • Write scripts, articles, or presentation slides. • Design visuals: posters, infographics, and images. • Teacher checks drafts for grammar, vocabulary, and clarity.Week 4 – Finalizing & Presenting • Rehearse speaking parts and finalize visuals. • Present projects to the class. • Complete a peer review and reflection on what was learned.Example Reflection (for each student):
