Enola Holmes 2 Release Date: Cast, Plot and More

Enola Holmes 2 will feature Millie Bobby Brown once more as our favourite corset-wearing, fourth-wall-breaking heroine.

The younger sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes is followed in both the Netflix prequel and the first film as she makes enormous efforts to establish herself as a detective.

Brown previously admitted that Enola Holmes 2’s fourth wall cracks gave her nightmares about bringing the habit to the show’s final season.

According to Today, Brown said this during a Q&A session at the movie’s New York premiere: “While filming, I had a dream that I was on the Stranger Things set, and I couldn’t stop looking at the camera.

“And now I’m afraid I’ll never be able to quit staring into the camera. I’m now completely captivated with it.

The sequel’s first trailer and some initial looks at the cast in action were previously given to fans (below).

The film, which was made available as part of Netflix’s worldwide TUDUM event, gave viewers a glimpse of what to expect from Enola as she establishes her own detective firm and eventually takes on a case involving a missing girl after being first turned down by a number of clients.

Her famous brother Sherlock (Henry Cavill) also makes his first appearance in the tape, as it becomes clear that a case he is working on is somehow related to her own mystery.

The second film, like the first, is based on the Enola Holmes 2 Mysteries book series by Nancy Springer, with this one’s plot taking inspiration from the book The Case of the Left-Handed Lady.

In addition to Brown and Cavill, other recurring characters include Susan Wokoma as Edith, Adeel Akhtar as Lestrade, Helena Bonham Carter as Enola’s mother Eudoria, Louis Partridge as Tewkesbury, and Helena Bonham Carter as Tewkesbury.

Enola Holmes 2 Trailer

On Saturday, September 24, 2022, as part of its TUDUM event, Netflix published a trailer for the follow-up, offering fans an exciting first look at Millie Bobbie Brown reprising her role as Enola.

The two-minute movie has her opening up her own detective service, though few prospective clients take her seriously before she is given a case involving a missing girl that is, we later find, somehow related to a case her brother Sherlock is working on. View the trailer down below.
Netflix has already published a little behind-the-scenes video of Louis Partridge wrapping his parts for the movie before the Enola Holmes 2 trailer was made public.

In January 2022, Netflix made the formal announcement that the Enola Holmes sequel had completed filming by sharing a brief behind-the-scenes video showing Louis Partridge finishing his scenes.

Following rumours regarding whether Tewkesbury’s plot would continue, the footage, which was posted on Twitter in January 2022, officially reveals that teenage detective Enola’s love interest Tewkesbury (played by Partridge) will return for the movie.

Enola Holmes 2 Cast

Henry Cavill (Sherlock Holmes) and Millie Bobby Brown, who portrays the title character in Enola Holmes, are formally reuniting for this sequel. If Enola Holmes wasn’t present, the sequel wouldn’t really be that much of a sequel.

Given that Millie Bobby Brown admitted to Entertainment Weekly last year that she “fell in love” with the role, her return for the sequel comes as no surprise.

“Oh, yeah, I’ll just do one movie, like, obviously. But as soon as I got to the set and started playing [Enola], I fell in love with her and she became a part of my heart.

“At the end of the day, this has been my favourite thing I’ve ever done,” she added. Therefore, starting afresh from scratch would be a dream.”

Louis Partridge will also return in the role of Tewkesbury, who was introduced as Enola’s potential love interest in the previous movie.

Partridge just commented on Millie Bobby Brown’s Instagram post announcing Enola Holmes 2 to allude to his involvement in the sequel. She posted a behind-the-scenes photo from the first movie, “The sequel is afoot #EnolaHolmes2,” and Partridge added a cryptic winking emoji in the comment section.

How many scenes he will appear in in the sequel is still unknown. Tewkesbury’s potential romance with Enola was hinted at in the first movie, so we wouldn’t be shocked if he appeared in at least a cameo.

Enola Holmes 2’s supporting cast is still to be determined, but we may expect that Sam Claflin and Helena Bonham Carter will return to reprise their roles as Enola’s stern older brother Mycroft and her free-spirited, suffragette mother Eudoria, respectively.

The return of Hattie Morahan as Lady Tewkesbury, David Bamber as Sir Whimbrel Tewkesbury, Frances de la Tour as The Dowager, and Fiona Shaw as Miss Harrison may not be necessary, especially since Enola is expected to move on to another mystery. However, it would make sense for Adeel Akhtar to reprise his role as Lestrade and Susie Wokoma to reprise hers as Edith.

What happened in the first Enola Holmes movie?

The first film in the franchise introduces viewers to Enola Holmes – the younger sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes – who lives with their mother Eudoria in late-1800s England. Homeschooled her whole life by her mother, who taught her to be an independent, thinking young woman, Enola wakes up on her 16th birthday to find her mother missing with just birthday gifts left behind.

Enola discovers a hidden message in the flower cards left by her mother as Sherlock and Mycroft are on their way to send her off to finishing school. She then flees, boarding a train while costumed as a man. She encounters Viscount Tewkesbury on the train; he has also fled his house but is not aware that Linthorn, an assassin, is attempting to assassinate him. Enola jumps from the train with Tewkesbury to narrowly avoid being killed; they then both travel to London before splitting up.

After discovering bombs in a safe house and deciphering Eudoria’s hints, Enola discovers that her mother is a member of a radical feminist organisation. After successfully escaping Linthorn once more, Enola chooses to go to the family estate of Viscount Tewkesbury to find out more about him. He is selling flowers in Covent Garden when she arrives there and informs him that he is in danger. She is eventually located by Inspector Lestrade, who was tasked by Mycroft to do so, and is then sent to a finishing school.

Enola, who is miserable in Miss Harrison’s boarding school, is shortly saved by Tewkesbury, who sneaks in. The two then escape on Miss Harrison’s motorcycle and travel to Tewkesbury’s family estate after determining that it was his uncle who was attempting to kill him. When they get there, though, Tewkesbury’s grandmother confronts them because she planned his murder in order to prevent her grandson from taking his father’s seat in the House of Lords and casting a vote in favour of women’s voting rights. She shoots him in the chest, but he pulls through, revealing that he was shielded from her bullets by a plate of armour.

Enola bids Tewkesbury farewell and departs for London after interpreting a note intended for her in a newspaper, only to discover that it was a trap set by Sherlock and Mycroft. Although Sherlock notices a clue from Enola and advises Mycroft that he should take on the role of guardian for Enola, he chooses not to search for her. Eudoria is waiting for Enola when she returns to her quarters. She explains that while she was proud of the woman Enola had grown into and that she had to leave to further the suffragettes’ cause, it was time for her to leave once more.
