How to see who viewed your Instagram story

You can't see who's viewed your regular photo or video posts on Instagram, but it's pretty easy to figure out how to see who's viewed your story.

1- To view your story, tap on your profile picture bubble at the top of your feed.

2- Look at the bottom left corner of your story. If any of your followers have already viewed it, you'll see one or more profile picture bubbles with a visible sticker underneath.

If you still don't see this indicator, tap the X in the upper right corner to close the story and wait a little longer for your followers to see it. After waiting, repeat steps three and four.

3- Tap on the profile photo bubbles labeled Seen by # to open the view tab. You will see a list of all the people who have viewed your story along with the total number of views in the top left. When you're done, tap the X in the top right.

4- Customize the viewing and sharing settings of your story by tapping on the gear icon in the upper left corner of the story. From here you can configure the following options:

Hide Story From: Select people from your follower list to hide your story from.

Close Friends: Create a list of close friends if you only want to share your stories with specific people.

Allow Message Replies: Allow followers or only followers you follow to reply to your story, or turn off replies altogether.

Allow Sharing: Allow your followers to share photos and videos from your story as messages.

Customize your story settings anytime, even when you don't currently have any live stories, from your account settings. Open your profile, tap the menu icon in the top right, tap Settings, go to Privacy and Security, and select Story Controls.

5- By keeping the story longer than the default 24 hours, increase the chance of seeing your story by more followers. To do this, all you have to do is set your story as Highlight. Tap to view your story, then tap the Highlight button at the bottom right. Although it disappears from your followers' feeds after 24 hours, it remains on your profile until you delete it.

6- If you don't want people who don't follow you to see your stories, set your Instagram profile to private. As long as your profile is public, anyone can tap your profile picture to view your stories.

Whenever you view someone else's story, that person can see that you have viewed it. There's no way to view other people's stories anonymously, so if you don't want anyone to know you're viewing their stories, your only options are to view it through someone else's account or not at all.
