MvM: ArsenalÂ
A Fresh Start for all!
When MvM: Armada finally releases this fall, MvMers new and old will all be starting on equal footing. We typically do this every few years. But this is intended to be the final progress wipe for MvM. For those of you who played between 2021-2022, you will get an offical legacy title inside the game
Why are we hitting the reset button on progress? In the past, every few years we would wipe the community at the start of a new "era" of MvM
We are now entering the "Origins" era at the beginning of 2024. Consider it like MvM is finally leaving "the alpha stage" of Development. With all this in mind, Most "Unity Era" Players have items, gear, and loot that has drastically changed. Furthermore, the game has undergone massive core changes. Not to mention, Supernova has grown alot since MvM closed its doors back in December of 2022. Plenty of members will be logging onto MvM for the very first time, and we want all players to be able to start on equal footing. We understand there maybe some general concerns from Unity fans who will miss their gear. They have every right to feel that way! But we can assure you, the game that's coming to you later this year is so much better than what you were used to playing...and is jam packed with content! 15 Maps, 150 Mastery Badges to earn, 100s of different weapons and armor varieties to hunt/craft, 15 different Difficulties, and an entire armada of Mobs to slaughter. Im sure im missing somethings but the point is...MvM is becoming much more content packed then its ever been, and we cant wait to show you what we have in store!
Saying goodbye to Elite Mobs!
One of the biggest changes coming to MvM is the total removal of the Elite Mob Class. A daunting idea for many veteran MvMers. Elite Mobs used to be the big bad mobs that were the only foes to damage the Beacons. How they worked was a complicated mess of commands and shenanigans. Essentially Amp (me) would be dressed up in a skin, and have a slew of different commands running to allow me to "take damage" before "dying". This system was a very iconic yet janky feature to the MvM combat dynamic. However, it was always a crutch based on technical limitations that eventually needed to be addressed if we ever decided to make MvM into a server. Over the years we kept modifying and building upon this inherently flawed feature, and in the process made some pretty fun and memorable encounters. Every Veteran remembers their first Super-Zerker or their deep hatred of Hyper Boomers. We want to keep the fun gameplay scenarios that were unexpectedly created with this system. So we will be taking these encounters and mechanics and breaking them down into the various mobs of the Armada. So with Elite Mobs gone...how will the Mobs destroy the Beacons? That's a mystery we aren't willing to explain entirely at the moment! However what we will say is that it involves dangerous Spectral Energy filled Bombs called Beacon Busters...and the Mobs have alot of them!
Is MvM launching as a Server?
You might have heard rumors about an MvM Server exsisting...and they are true!
For over ten years MvM has exsisted as a world that I personally had to host. But coming with Armada, MvM will be a server! Now, battle sessions will still need to be manually hosted by me. But the entite Armory process including Vendors, Crafting, Trading, Upgrading, and unlocking loot will be 100% automated. You can log in at anytime and do these things!
Will MvM ever come to Java?
Simply put, we have no interest or intention of putting MvM on Java.
Bedrock is where MvM got its start, and we fully intend to keep MvM on bedrock for a very long time.
MvM content after Armada.
So, once Armada drops...does MvM go dormant for another year?
Nope! We never want to have our loyal MvMers ever wait this long for content again. Infact we are preparing to have a system we call "Encore Patches" that happen every month(ish) until the next major MvM update. These Encore Patches will primarily focus on bug fixing and tuning, buf also always come packed with a handful of new content thrown into the mix. Maybe one month its a couple of new mobs, or another month its a few new weapons to find! Maybe even a new Spell to master! We have alot planned to keep our MvMers knee-deep in all that Mob slaying goodness.
The future of MvM?
We have alot planned, and as Supernova continues to grow we want to make sure MvM has plenty of exciting content updates to keep the ball rolling. With new and talented faces rising to the occasion and joining the MvM Team, we can assure you that your Mob slaying career has a bright future!
Now, these aren't in any particular order. But I figured I can share you some of the Major Content Updates planned between 2024-2027!
Heres some scrambled letters...maybe a keen MvMer can figure them out! (What, you thought I was just gonna give you them?)
Could these be random gibberish? Or a legitimate clue...that's for me to know and you to find out!
Thats all I have for this Blog Post! Thanks for reading yall!
