Spring has sprunkled
Or something along those lines I'm not really the best at reading. We got plenty of things to yap about, so let's get right into it!
New Admin alert!
It's been a long time coming, Samosa joins the ranks as our newest Nova Administrator! His main focus will be Game nights, Community events, and Development assistance. Congratulations Samosa, you've earned it! Now if we could only get him to learn his left from his rights... he could become owner!
New Partnership?
What's this? A partnership inside of Supernova? We haven't had one of those since... Do you guys know what an "Aye-viscraft" is? Don't think I've ever heard of it. Anyway, we are proud to announce our official partnership with EthelMC! EthelMC is ran by our good friends Seraphina and Charles, who lead their cozy community and run two SMP's. We think their community and values align pretty similarly to our own. So if you're feeling like checking out a new mc server, go visit the Ethelians! You can find their link and more info about them in the "Partner Board" channel! (Will be posted in the next few days)
Please remember that if you go over to Ethel, you're representing Supernova! Please do your absolute best to follow and respect their rules and culture.
XP and Levels
IT NEVER ENDS, BILLIONS MUST GRIND. XP has gotten a pretty big overhaul going into this month! You will now receive XP for doing ANY action inside of Supernova. Texting, Talking in VCs (needs at least 1 other human present), Reacting, Posting in Nova Gallery, Spamming pear gifs at Sammyyy in mess hall...ANYTHING gives XP now. Following this change to XP, we've reworked the level cap from 500 to 1000! We've sprinkled in some extra prizes at every 100 levels now across the board too!
New Level Rewards & Boosts
Every 100 Levels now gives you an additional Personal Box command to open capping out at Ten! However each personal box has a different command to open. They are each numbered. So try !personalbox1, !personalbox2, etc.(feature drops late April-May) Certain channels also now give more XP depending on their purpose. Mess Hall gives the least, while things like Aviscraft Community, Global, MvM Community(soon), Nova Gallery, and Hangout VC give higher amounts of XP for participating. Boosting the server now gives you a 50% XP Boost from all sources.
Introducing...Widgit
Fidgit has been clearly overworked, running the entirety of Supernova's bot functions has been quite the stressful task for our little bot. Especially since he was programmed by me...and that can never end well. So he's called in some backup...meet Widgit! His little brother. Widgit will now assume the responsibilities of running the Bot Arcade, displaying certain embed messages, and other various miscellaneous tasks around the server. Widgit would of preferred to be the Moderator Bot, but Fidgit had seniority and threatened to pull rank on Widgit.
Bot Arcade Category
It's not all doom and gloom for Widgit however! His first big task will be completely overhauling the Bot Arcade...it's gotten kinda messy hasn't it? Expect a whole new category to appear regarding Bot channels sometime in april-may! (This will be a category you can opt into or opt out of via a role if you'd like to not see the channels)
Fidgit Overhaul
Now that Widgit is handling all the Bot Arcade stuff, Fidgit is getting a massive Overhaul and becoming a certified Moderator Bot. He's getting tons of new features. This will make protecting our server easier for our mods, and ensure our community remains as safe as we can make it.
Verbal Warns and Infractions
With Fidgit getting an Overhaul, we've also taken a step back and reviewed our Warn system and how we deal with Infractions. We'd like to make some big changes to how we deal with Rule Enforcment. First off, Verbal Warns. Verbal Warnings will now be issued out by Chaperones, Mods, and Chief Mods incase a conversation or behavior is starting to get close to breaking the rules. These Warnings are purely to just let everyone know that it's time to chill out and either switch the topic or step away from it all together. Noones getting in trouble when a Verbal Warn is issued. When a Mod says they are using a Verbal Warn, noones in trouble! It's a safety net to give everyone a heads up that we are starting to push too far away from our Communities Rules, and that it's time to settle down before actual punishments are handed out. Actual Warns (Infractions) are still a thing However, and now members will only get 3 of them before they get banned from the server. This was originally 5, but we found this allowed certain members too many chances and they ended up causing more harm then good. Certain actions will still warrant immediate Infractions/bans such as DM advertising and posting NSFW content. Keeping the community healthy and safe always comes first, and the Discord Division reserves the right to remove any individual that they deem a threat to safety or culture.
To help with this change in Infractions...every single currently not-banned Nova-Naut now has a 100% Clean slate and fresh start. We've removed every single Infraction members may of had on their record. So going forward, everyone's starting on a new leaf. Remember, the mods don't get ya banned, it's poor behavior that gets ya banned!
Reports and Appeals
Have a DM Scammer coming from our Server? Or maybe a particularly annoying person in VC saying hateful things? Don't worry, you can now use fidgit to report troublesome users directly to the mods! Simply to /report and fill out all the prompts! Try to provide as much evidence as possible, and attach it to the report! Our mod team can then directly handle your report, and you'll remain anonymous from the troublemaker! The Mod team will be able to see that you made the report though! Any nova-naut can use this command! However, abusing it is a Rule 1 Violation. But let's say you have an Infraction you would like to get off your record, or perhaps...maybe even appeal your ban? You can now appeal these using fidgit! Whenever you get an Infraction, Fidgit will DM you letting you know! He will also conveniently leave behind a link to Appeal.GG. A site that hosts are Appeal forms. Fill out an appeal (honestly and respectfully) and if the mod team agrees to appeal whatever punishment you recieved...it will get removed!
Rule 1 & 2 changes
Rule 1 and 2 are changing, so let me break it down for you. Rule 1 will now prohibit Stealing Art (never thought we'd have to make this rule but yet here we are) and abusing Report commands.
Rule 2 will now allow Political and Social issue discussions in a RESPECTFUL and POLITE demeanor. We don't think this causes to much harm on the community, as long as you can keep these topics civil and respectful, we will allow them. However, if we find that these topics cannot be handled in a mature manner or users are attacking others beliefs and political views...Bans will be handed out and we will revert the political topics change immediately. Explicitly sexual topics are still 100% off the table. Behave yourselves Nova-Nauts.
Pruning out Inactivity
Starting this month, and going forward after the newsletter we will be removing members who haven't logged onto discord OR clicked on the Supernova Network in 30 days. These prunes (or purges) will happen a day or so after every Newsletter. This month specifically, we will be pruning roughly 60ish members. We value quality over quantity here at Supernova. Sure, everyone likes a high member count. But if that high member count doesn't translate into active members...then who cares? We predict after this intial prune, that the Monthly prunes will only kick out a few members each month. Also, if you're worried that your getting pruned...You're one of the folks reading this newsletter...that means you've viewed Supernova at least once in the last 30 days. We may step up pruning efforts and do larger Purges where it is necessary. So just be prepped to see a bunch of folks get kicked in the next 24-48 hours.
