WhatsApp: soon a fingerprint reader to enhance security on Android?

The well-known WhatsApp app is preparing an update that will introduce a much-needed new feature on Android. When effective, users will be able to protect their conversations with their fingerprints. The WABetaInfo site had access to the beta.

In particular, the system will allow a delay before the application re-requests biometric authentication. It will be 1, 10 or 30 minutes. In addition, the user must also choose a security code in case the fingerprint reader does not work.

A feature already available on iOS

The company, which belongs to the Facebook group, wants to guarantee its users better protection of their personal data, while the scandals on the use of these data are increasing, targeting, in particular, the firm of Mark Zuckerberg.

This new WhatsApp feature should soon be available to the general public, although no date has yet been released. On iPhones, messaging is already compatible with Touch ID or Face ID technologies.
