How to Create a Telegram Channel or Group with Paid Access: Full Step-by-Step Guide

Paid subscription is another way to monetize a Telegram channel or group. This format is useful for influencers, experts, and services since users would subscribe to their channels for various reasons:

  • They want to support an influencer.
  • They want to read helpful posts and insights.
  • That’s how they get access to services or advice.

The number of subscribers doesn’t matter. You don’t have to engage a crowd of thousands. Actually, a paid subscription will become an extra source of income even for a small channel.

For example, micro influencers can make money with 200–300 subscribers. Experts can sell their expertise or insights in their private groups with just a handful of members.

How a paid subscription works

Adding paid access to a channel is easy:

  • Channel owner sets up a paid subscription using Crypto Bot.
  • User (client) pays in cryptocurrency to access the owner’s channel.
  • This guide helps channel owners get started with Crypto Bot.

This chatbot has undeniable benefits:

  • Fully automated subscription and unsubscription, accounting, and channel management. There’s no need to enter data manually, so you won’t lose money due to human error.
  • There’s no prepay. 5% fee will be deducted from each subscription payment you received from your clients.
  • Crypto Bot allows you to accept the most popular cryptocurrencies: USDT, BTC, ETH, BNB, TRX, BUSD, USDC, and TON.

How to set up a paid subscription

To add channel subscription, follow five simple steps. They all can be done within your Telegram window.

Step 1. Find Subscriptions section in Crypto Bot

Follow this link: https://t.me/CryptoBot. Click on Start, then find the Subscriptions button.

Click on Subscriptions. When a new menu appears, click on Connect.

Step 2. Add Crypto Bot to your channel or group

In the new menu, select what you need to connect to Crypto Bot: your channel or your group.

Choose the group or channel from the drop-down list of groups/channels you own.

Adding a channel

Assign the Crypto Bot as an admin to your channel. Only tick Add members as the bot doesn’t need other rights.

Adding a group

Assign the Crypto Bot as an admin to your group. In this case, tick two options: Ban users and Add members. The bot doesn’t need other rights.

Step 3. Set up subscription plans

The new settings menu allows you to set up subscription payment intervals, prices, as well as cryptocurrencies you accept.

There are three settings:

  1. The duration of paid subscription. You can set up an interval ranging from 1 to 12 months. After this time period, the next payment will be automatically deducted from your subscriber’s balance.
  2. Cryptocurrency used for payment. You can select one or several currencies. Currently, Crypto Bot accepts payments in USDT, TON, BTC, ETH, BNB, TRX, BUSD, USDC.
  3. Subscription price in TON or USD.

The number of plans is unlimited. You can create several options with different payment intervals and prices. For example:

  • 1 month for 10 USD
  • 3 months for 24 USD
  • 12 months for 90 USD

Here’s another perk: you can add one Special offer to each of the subscription plans.

There are four settings in this menu:

  • Discount. Varies from 5% to 80%.
  • Validity period. The expiration time of your offer. Varies between 1 to 365 days.
  • Max number of subscribers. You can specify any number or no maximum at all.
  • Target audience. You can specify whether this offer will be available only to new subscribers or all subscribers, including those who have paid at least once.

Step 4. Link a group chat to your paid channel (Optional)

You can add a group chat to your channel if you want. So when a user pays for their subscription, they will not only get access to your channel but to your group chat as well.

Note: Keep in mind that you can’t link a group chat to a group since they are essentially the same things.

In your channel menu, find Linked Group: OFF and click on it.

Then, follow instructions in the chatbot.

Note: Members of a linked group chat will be automatically removed from your channel and group when their subscription payment expires.

Step 5. Change the invite link (Optional)

After setting up all paid subscription plans, you can invite users to join your private channel or group. To do this, you need to share a link generated by Crypto Bot with your potential subscribers.

The standard invite link looks like this:

  • t.me/CryptoBot?start=SBy1hdRvsNoyAwMjM8

But you can make it more memorable and brand it with your channel name. For example:

  • t.me/CryptoBot?start=s-Privatechannel where Privatechannel is your channel name.

Click on your channel/group, then Rename Invite Link. Type in any text that you want to appear in your invite link.

All ready!

Click on My Channels to edit settings or manage any channels/groups you’ve connected to Crypto Bot.

The number of channels or groups that you can add to Crypto Bot is unlimited. With this chatbot, you will be able to accept subscription payments from anywhere in the world.

The received cryptocurrency will be stored in your Crypto Bot wallet. You can use the chatbot to withdraw money at any time. To learn more about withdrawal fees, go back to the main menu in Crypto Bot, then click on Wallet → Fees & Limits.
