History as an air castle: why our understanding of the past is wrong

When historians try to present past eras, castles in the air immediately appear. Which immediately crumble under the pressure of Egyptian and Mesoamerican winds.Too forced, generalized and selectively - we recognize some events as facts, others not so much.

At the same time, some artifacts are considered part of the archaeological archives, while others are simply ignored due to their "anti-scientific" nature or even elementary misunderstanding.

Scientific knowledge moves along a predetermined path, and when a conditional "incomprehensible" arises, something that does not fit into the usual picture of academic dogma, a failure occurs. And opponents not recognized by official departments.

The structure of the production of historical knowledge does not provide for intellectual competition, and the coordination of new positions often requires the departure into oblivion of an entire generation of researchers.A social revolution is needed, a factual catharsis that entails the reformatting of the academic field: the reassessment of values means a change in the scientific paradigm. Not the other way around.

Watch out, don't get confused.Even if we do not consider "controversial" issues a-la who built the pyramids and what is wrong with the pre-Columbian civilizations of America, there remain many "theoretical" problems associated with the perception of large time periods.

First of all, because the analysis of historical eras assumes the use of political and sociological tools. But by no means historical, of which ... there is no.

For example, was there a Middle Ages or not?
