Does it hurt?
We are very often asked: "whether it hurts to get a tattoo?". We can't provide you with an unambigous answer due to this reasons:
The pain theshold varies from person to person, so it is impossible to definitely answer will it be painful for you or not.
Some people feel totally nothing during the session and can even fall asleep. And there are those who find it rather painful.
We don't recommend to take painkillers before the session - they lower the blood clotting, which can result in harder tattooing and the healing process can be negatively affected as well.
Does the pain depend on the spot of tattoo?
That's for sure. There are spots of your body where it is more painful to get a tattoo.
Regularly it is such a spot, where your skin is very close to the bone.
In any case it depends on the variety of factors – body structure, location of nerve endings, the amount of subcutaneous fat.
There is a tattoo pain chart, which shows the level of pain which can be experienced in the exact area of your body. The pain varies from very strong to minimal. You can use this map to predefine what should be expected from the session.
Do men and women feel it the same?
According to researches women can bear the tattoo sessions more easily due to higher percentage of body fat. But it's again a very individual aspect.
For sure we know only the fact, that it's not advisable for the women to get a tattoo during the periods and in a few days before. The woman's body sensetivity is increased during this time and the pain can be born worse.
And finally - try not to think about the pain during the process and not to concentrate on it .
Getting disrtacted by the music, book or your phone can help not only to accelerate the process, but for you to feel better :)
