Where every day feels like a new day
City Palace
An epitome of the confluence of Rajput, Mughal and European architecture, City Palace Jaipur stands out on account of many reasons. The City Palace includes Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal apart from other structures. Concentric zones fortifying the inner dwellings of the palace, accompanied by asymmetric design, makes it an architectural marvel.
Hawa Mahal
Cascading over the streets of Jaipur, Hawa Mahal was built in 1799 with the purpose of hiding the royal women behind the dark shadowed windows of the palace. The women could see the city below without themselves being noticed by the passersby. The 152 windows nestled into rounded latticed balconies give it a honeycomb facade showcasing the delicate architectural splendor of Rajasthan. It displays relics, artifacts, statues, and other historical memorabilia that commemorates Rajasthan’s royal history.
Amber Palace
Amber palace is also known as Amer fort lying at a distance of 11km from Jaipur. It is an old fort built in 1592 by Raja Mansingh. Amer fort is built out of red sandstone and marble with Maotha Lake in the vicinity adding a certain charm to this elegant fort. Prominent buildings like Diwan-i-aam, Sheesh mahal and Sukh Mahal speak of the aesthetic sense of the patrons. Amer fort has the influence of both Hindu and Muslim architecture. This fort also has the Sheela Devi temple and the Ganesh Pol which is a gate that leads to the private palaces of the kings.
Albert Hall Museum
Built-in 1876, it was initially envisioned to be a concert hall and resembles the architecture of the Victoria and Albert Hall Museum in London, hence, the name. Albert Hall Museum is home to an industrial arts exhibit harboring artifacts from different parts of the country showcased in the 16 art galleries. As the night falls the museum takes a whole new façade with the entire building glowing with yellow lights. You can also relax in the gardens with the stunning view of Albert Hall in the backdrop.Â
Jantar Mantar
Jantar Mantar and the other four astronomical observatories in west-central India is the brainchild of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, who had envisioned and executed the highly organized city of Jaipur. The observatory is a wonder for the architects and artists alike, and today, it is presented to audiences as an all-encompassing experience, complete with time-lapse sequences, drawings and 3D models to showcase this historical site.
