Stunning views of Montserrat
Stunning views of Montserrat are what Montserrat offers to visitors. The island is one of the Canary Islands and has many different water sports to offer tourists, with some offering activities right up to walking and mountain biking. There are also plenty of family friendly attractions including Montserrat's only underwater disco, which was opened in 1998. Other great attractions include the Montserrat Petroglyphs, which consists of engravings of animals like the horse, elephant and hippo. There is also the world famous Montserrat Bay which is packed with beautiful shops, bars and clubs.
Montserrat is a book to be read with a guide. Therefore, to climb the sacred mountain, I booked an individual tour on excurzilla.com. And to save myself from transport problems, I rented a car at Barcelona airport using the bookingauto.com service.
Stunning views of Montserrat are what make this island so special. When visiting, there are several places that you can go to get that clear view of the sea. The main building of Montserrat is called the Casa de Campo and it sits on the shore of a long narrow bay, which is fenced in and closed to the public. At the top of the hill is the St John's Garden, with its beautiful four-poster and fountain. Other stunning views are the Grand Hotel, the Bell Tower, the National Gallery, the Botanical Gardens and the Royal Botanic Gardens.
One of the more unusual and beautiful places to visit in Montserrat is the St John's Garden, which features a slate statue of Virgin Mary holding a cross. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens and statues. Another popular attraction is the Private Squeeze Pool, which is a beautiful swimming pool surrounded by lush green tropical surroundings. The private squeeze pool is open for public and is the preferred choice of holidaymakers going to Montserrat to relax and unwind.
As, well as the famous Montserrat holidays, the island also boasts of other attractions, including its friendly, outgoing people. The atmosphere on the island is extremely relaxed and laid back. Montserrat is popular with families staying in holiday villas that have views of the sea or who come here to spend time at the beach. There is also a growing number of people who prefer to stay in self-catering cottages in the surrounding green hills and countryside, many of which are set amongst pebbles and volcanic rocks. The view from one of these cottages is of emerald waters lapping on the seashore.
For those who prefer to take risque photographs, there are many stunning picturesque locations to choose from in the island. One of the main attractions in Montserrat is the Plage des Tournelles (The Trench) - this sandy coastal path is lined with iron fencing and it takes about two hours to walk from end to end. If you prefer to get a closer look, there are also many walking tracks criss-crossing the island and leading to the sandy beaches. These tracks are safe to walk on and offer splendid views of Montserrat's most famous landmark, the Plage des Twisties (The Twisties) - a sandstone formation situated between two rocky cliffs. Picturesque and extremely photogenic, the scenery of the Twisties is worth taking a picture and for some this is reason enough to take pics!
A short train ride away from the town of Montserrat, there lies the village of Sintra, home to its own charming spa resort and restaurant. The views over the sea are stunning and you can choose to spend a lovely evening in the warm sun on the veranda as you enjoy the gentle music played by the fife wrens as you relax in the spa. Alternatively, you may decide to visit one of the picturesque village attractions such as the Catalinas beach or the delightful old church of Santa Maria de Gracia. With plenty of shops and cafes scattered throughout, there is no need to spend all your time in the town. The best option is to take a holiday rental car and explore the island on your own. Alternatively, hire a touring group and they will organise travel around the island, making sure that all your needs are met.
