Narayan Nagbali Pooja Vidhi
Narayan Nagbali is a 3-day puja ritual performed at Ahilya Godavari Sangam and Satimahasmashan located near Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga Temple. Narayan Nagbali Puja is performed by the authentic Tamrapatradhari pandit of Trimbakeshwar. Devotees are asked to come to Trimbakeshwar 1 day in advance before this ritual. And once this ritual begins, the devotees cannot leave the Trimbakeshwar tirth kshetra.
During the ritual, it is asked to avoid alcohol, cigarettes, and nonveg food and is advised to eat only sattvic food. Tambarathari Pandit of Trimbakeshwar provides help to the devotees in all things like Pooja material, accommodation, and food. The date of the Narayana Nagbali Puja ritual is given by Tamrapatradhari Pandit by looking at the birth chart of the person who wants to perform this Pooja, they predict the Nakshatras and tell the time of the ritual.
Narayana Nagbali Puja involves pinda daan, and pitru dosh nivarna rituals, so only men can perform this ritual. And women cannot sit alone in this ritual. Men wear a new white dhoti and gumcha and women wear a saree of any color except black and green.
Before starting the ritual, devotees bathe in the holy water of the Kushavarat Kund near Trimbakeshwar. It is said that bathing in the water of Kushavarta Kunda washes away all sins.
First Day of Narayan Nagbali Ritual:
Vidhi starts at Ahilya Godavari Sangam
Pandit Ji keeps the idols of Lord Vishnu and Vaivasvata Yama in a bowl
The puja begins with Pradhan Sankalpa, Nyas, and Kalash puja
Then Lord Surya, Ganesha, and Vishnu are worshiped.
Five gods have worshiped namely Brahma, Lord Vishnu, Lord Mahesh, Yama, and Tatpurusha
After that, the rituals of Agni Sthapana, Purushukta Havan, Ekadashi Vishnu Shraddha, Panchadevata Shraddha Sacrifice, Palash Vidhi, Pinda Pardan are performed.
After that ten pindas with honey, ghee, and sesame seeds are offered on the darbha
After that sandalwood paste is applied to the bodies and they are left in the water
Second Day of Narayan Nagbali Ritual:
On the next day, the puja is started only after taking a bath in the Kushavart Kund.
It is asked to wear the clothes of the first day itself.
One, three, or five Brahmins are invoked (an odd number of Brahmins are invited).
Chanting the names of Vishnu, Brahma, Shiva, and Yama, the four pindas are offered
And the fifth pinda is offered to the body in the form of Vishnu
After that clothes, ornaments, or a cow are offered to a Brahmin
After that, the Brahmins offer water containing darbha, sesame seeds, and tulsi leaves in the hands of the devotee.
Third Day of Narayan Nagbali Ritual:
Lord Ganesha is worshiped on the third day i.e., “Swastipunyavachan” is performed.
Because all the negativity in the first 2 days of worship is destroyed by it.
A small golden snake idol is worshiped, and the snake is donated to the Brahmin.
And lastly, Bhoga and food are distributed to Brahmins.
And finally, the Narayan Nagbali Puja is completed by worshiping Lord Mahadev.
