Types of electrical insulating mats

In modern technology, insulating rubber sheets are mostly sold for the width measurements of 2 mm, 2.5 mm, and 3 mm. There are various voltage systems according to their usage. Most of the companies offer up to 3.3 kV, 11 kV, and 33 kV. This silicon-based material has a high possibility in the international electrical sector and has been growing rapidly for the last few years.

There are 4 major types of Insulating mats for electrical purpose –

i. X-Volt Insulating Mats (IS 15652: 2006)

ii. Safe volt Insulation Mats (IS 15652: 2006)

iii. Electrical Checker Mats (IS 5424: 1969)

iv. Electrical Rubber Mats (IEC 61111: 2009) i.

- X-Volt Insulating Mats (IS 15652: 2006)

X-Volt Insulating mats for electrical purpose are made up of elastomer which is a combination of rubber, elastomeric compounds, and PVC. The presence of anti-skid properties helps any sort of slippage while the electricians work atop these mats. This high voltage resistant mat designed with the latest standards IS 15652:2006.

- Safe volt Insulation Mats (IS 15652: 2006)

Safe volt insulation mats have a more premium anti-skid dotted design that looks visually appealing Compared to X-Volt electrical insulating mats. Generally, it is applied to the floor below the control panels. It protects laborers and electricians from leakage and short circuit of current.

- Electrical Checker Mats (IS 5424: 1969)

Electrical Checker Mats are the most widely used Insulating mats for electrical purpose in the industry. These highly electrical-resistant mats are made up of natural rubber. Though this type of mats are made up of quite old technology, it protects the workers from electric shocks.

- Electrical Rubber Mats (IEC 61111: 2009)

Electrical Rubber Mats can be customized according to the voltage resistant requirement. Different colors and shapes of this mat is available in the market. This mat provides safety to labors and workers from unexpected electrical shocks.
