8 Human Rights Blogs Everybody Should Know

The United Nations has come up with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which is a document drafted by various representatives from different legal and cultural backgrounds. This document has 30 articles protecting fundamental human rights. This document specifically is a boon for the social injustice happening across the world. Let’s look at a few of the human rights blogs that operate to educate people all over the world. 

1.TransGriot- Monika Robert is a trans-black woman. She is a winner of GLAAD awards and actively speaks against any social injustice that happens for trans or black people. On her blog she writes and shares all her favorite blogs regarding topics such as LGBTQAI. On her blog she quoted, “Blog’s mission is to become the griot of our community. I will introduce you to and talk about your African descended trans brothers and trans sisters across the Diaspora, reclaim and document our chocolate flavored trans history, speak truth to power, comment on the things that impact our trans community from an Afrocentric perspective and enlighten you about the general things that go on around me and in the communities that I am a member of.”

2.Chloe Schwenke- Chloe Schwenke is a feminist, human rights activists, educator, and researcher with ample experience working with developed countries. Her blog was chosen as one of the top 40 human activist blogs on the internet. She writes about social injustices prevailing in the world including feminism, gender equality, international development, public policies, women, and girls. 

3.The Advocates Post - This blog is managed by a group of Advocates for Human Rights. This NGO fights against social injustices to create a world in which everyone is free and lives with dignity. The advocates for Human Rights expose a broad range of human rights violations. Through Advocates Post blogs helps you learn how to support human rights and how to fight against death penalty.  

4.Freedom House - As the name suggests this blog is focused on expansion of freedom and democracy. The NGO was founded in 1941 with an aim to achieve greater civil liberties and political rights. Freedom House advocates for the US government and like-minded governments to oppose oppressors and dictators. 

5.Voice of Salam - Voice of Salam, or Voice of Peace (in English), was founded in 2015. Their aim is to raise awareness about global issues, such as social injustice and cultural issues. The advocate protection of human rights as well as inter-faith cultures. They share stories, lead campaigns, raise awareness and bring a change in the world with their blogs. 

6.On the Edge of Syria - Marcell Shehwaro is a Human Right Activist in Syria. She writes about extreme situations Syrian people have to live through every day. In fact, her blogs also bring out the difficulties a Human Rights Activist has to face in the country. She is also a member of a human rights group called Kesh Malek. The group protested against the living conditions of Syria and how derogatory they are for the people who have to live there. The group wants freedom of press, education, and justice for the Syrians. 

7.Writings by Renee - Renee is a New Zealand based Human Rights Activist. Her blogs focus on women education, literacy gap, militarism, and women’s liberation. She has also conducted exhibitions and interventions. Her exhibition Too Much Truth: Women’s Global Resistance to Sexploitation is widely recognized. She has been published on various websites, given numerous interviews and all her posts are translated into French, Spanish, German, Turkish, Norwegian, Serbian, and Croatian languages to give her blogs a wider reach. 

8.Global Voices - Global Voices is an international and multi-lingual community. They have bloggers and journalists, translators, academics, and Human Right Activists. They report stories and experiences of people, you cannot find on mainstream media. They advocate free speech for all. Global Voices also provide workshops and training to local marginalized communities who want to speak about their truth but are either afraid or are not aware how to share their stories to the mainstream world.
