Will of D.

In certain places, the clan of D. have been called by another name, God's Archenemy

"Will of D." is a mysterious will that's possessed by certain people. This enigmatic force is known to course through the veins of a select few, imbuing them with an unyielding determination and unwavering resolve. Those who harbor the Will of D are said to be driven by an unshakeable conviction, as if fate itself has chosen them to pursue a singular purpose. Shrouded in mystery, the true nature of this phenomenon remains unknown, yet its impact is undeniable - for those who possess the Will of D. are often destined to leave an indelible mark on the world.

"D" is the moniker of our ancient enemy. In recent times, it has cropped up more frequently. However, it is nothing but a faint echo. Those who carry the name do not even know of its true meaning now...

Imu explaining about Will of D. to Cobra.

It can be inferred that the mysterious "Will of D." originated from Void Century's Joyboy, and those who bear the 'D.' in their names are ominously labeled as the "Natural Enemies of the Gods". However, with the exception of Gol D. Roger, those who possess the 'D.' seem to be unaware of its significance. Notably, the term "gods" in this context does not refer to deities, but rather the Celestial Dragons, an elite group residing in Mary Geoise, located on the Redline. Our first introduction to the enigmatic 'D.' comes courtesy of Doctor Kureha, who revealed to Dalton and Chopper that the Pirate King's name was not simply Gold Roger, but rather Gol D. Roger, sparking curiosity about the meaning behind this distinctive naming convention.

The "Will of D." has been a topic of intrigue, with Nico Robin mentioning it on three separate occasions. The first instance was during the Arabasta Arc, when she saved Luffy from quicksand and inquired about the significance of the "D." in his name, only to be met with his ignorance on the matter. The second mention occurred during her conversation with Gan Fall, after they uncovered the ancient belfry, where Gan Fall drew parallels between Luffy and Gol D. Roger, hinting at a deeper connection. The third and most telling mention was when Robin approached Silvers Rayleigh, seeking insight into the enigmatic "Will of D." and its connection to the Void Century. Although Rayleigh remained tight-lipped about the meaning of the "D.", he revealed that the Roger Pirates had unearthed the secrets of the Void Century, an offer Robin declined, driven by her determination to uncover the truth on her own.

In a pivotal moment in Chapter 1085, a conversation between Nefertari D. Cobra and Imu exposes the deep-seated animosity harbored by Imu and the World Government towards individuals who possess the 'D.' Initial hostility turns to outright fury when Cobra reveals that the Nefertari family also carries the enigmatic 'D.' Imu's ire is palpable as he attempts to strike down Cobra for the first time, only to be thwarted by Sabo's timely intervention. However, Imu's malevolence ultimately prevails, as he successfully eliminates Cobra in their second encounter, utilizing a devastating trident-like appendage that protrudes from their serpentine tail.

It can be reasonably inferred that the reason Lily never returned to Alabasta nor ascended to the ranks of the Celestial Dragons was due to Imu and the other 19 kings and queens discovering that she possessed the 'D.' in her name. Fearing the potential implications of her existence, they collectively decided to erase her from the records, effectively expunging her from the annals of history.
