Auto review of 2021 Kia Picanto S

Don't be fooled or think that small cars are too small, they don't have space, they don't have posture, or they drive badly. Compact cars dominate the world, including Kia's pint size Picanto.

The Kia Picanto is a different type of small car with two different styles in 2021; the s variant tested here is an entry-level one, while the other model, well, it's the top dog, in the form of the GT series. The X-Series disappeared, and so did the GT.

The seat is a little narrow, but keep it supported. The driving position has been carefully considered and everything is at your fingertips. Even for the author, the pedal position remains the same for a size 12 boot, so there's no need to force it in.

We are the first managers. If you want to find a family car, tie up the seats of several children, and then travel outside the city, this car is not suitable for you. But Picanto still provides huge internal space and storage space for short urban residential drives.

We did manage to install a fairly large child seat in the back row, with enough space and comfort. The only drawback is that the passenger's front seat is eventually buried in the instrument panel. But we've seen this on large SUVs, so it's all relative.

Legroom is still a small problem in the back seat, which is almost non-existent unless you are a very small child or the driver is sitting over the steering wheel. But you have to remember that this is a small car / mini car after all.

The technology is also very rich. Even the basic series of power windows. These are not rubbish. So Kia did a good job. The cruise control system with speed limiter and reversing camera has also been put into S.

You can also find a good air conditioner, Bluetooth multi connection that allows you to connect two smartphones at the same time, an 8.0-inch vivid color touch screen, apple CarPlay and Android auto, 16-inch alloy wheels, halogen daytime running lights.

Yes, we know it may take more getting up and leaving, but don't be scared away by the power numbers, because Picanto is still an interesting small car, especially for manual driving around the town.

Our Picanto s is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, yes, it does need a little encouragement to move for a long time, but it's a perfect combination of city houses. However, it's good to use a 6-speed shift lever on the highway.

If you don't want manual transmission, you can choose 4-speed automatic gear. If you think there is such a tendency, we strongly recommend the driver management option. On the road, it is rooted in the ground, with sensitive steering and balanced chassis.
