🏝June 8 — World Oceans Day
This holiday was created to remind of the importance of the oceans in human life, as well as not to forget about the environmental problems of the water element.
❓The world ocean is so poorly explored that if you dive deeper than 3,500 meters, there is a high probability that you will encounter a new species of animal unknown to science.
👤The world owes the creation of waterproof cameras, scuba gear and underwater lighting devices to the French explorer of the World Ocean Jacques-Yves Cousteau. His developments have significantly contributed to the improvement of knowledge about the underwater world.
🏊♀️In 1998, French swimmer Benoît Lecomte became the first person to swim across the Atlantic Ocean without a boat. His feat was not registered in the Guinness Book of Records, he did it to raise money for cancer research as a tribute to his father. During the voyage, he was accompanied by a sailboat with an electromagnetic field on board, reflecting the attack of sharks. He swam an average of 8 hours a day for 73 days, taking breaks on a sailboat.
😳Thalassophobia is a fear of the ocean or the sea. It is expressed in the fact that a person is terrified of the sea spaces in any of their manifestations. It can be bathing; the thought of creatures inhabiting the sea waters and even images with the ocean.
💦Over the past 100 years, the water level in the world's oceans has risen by 25 cm.
