July 12 - Stewardess Day
Today, one of the most romantic specialties in the world, better known to us as stewards and stewardesses, is being celebrated.
It is believed that the profession originated in Germany in 1928, when a special person was taken on board the aircraft, whose duties included providing service during the flight. Previously, this was done by the co-pilot of the aircraft, which was risky from the point of view of flight safety.
Each flight attendant must complete medical courses.
The weight of the box on which drinks and lunches are delivered is about 50 kg, which quite often coincides with the weight of the flight attendants themselves.
Flight attendants have their own occupational disease – varicose veins. Because they spend the whole day on their feet.
Every hour of the flight, a person loses up to two glasses of fluid from the body, so it is necessary to drink water before, during and after the flight.
A flight attendant from Yugoslavia, Vesna Vulovic, survived a free fall from a height of 10,000 meters during a plane crash.
