June 21 - International Yoga Day
The holiday was celebrated for the first time in June 2015. The choice of date fell on the longest day of the year for half of the globe. This date is associated with the activity of the Sun and is known as the "Summer Solstice Day".
India is the birthplace of yoga.
Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice, and the word "yoga" means "connection" or "connection", symbolizing the connection of the body and consciousness.
Yoga is included by the UNESCO World Organization in the list of intangible cultural heritage of our planet.
The swastika was not originally invented by the Nazis. For Buddhists, it symbolizes a blessing. Among the ancient Slavs, the swastika was a symbol of the sun.
Ancient yogis believed that the number of breaths in a person's life is limited. That is why there are many practices of slow breathing in yoga: the slower you breathe, the longer you live.
