Renzo Protocol: The Ultimate Restaking Guide
Restake your ETH and get 3 types of rewards: ETH staking yield, EigenLayer Restaked Points and Renzo points.
What is Renzo?
Renzo is a Liquid Restaking Token (LRT) and Strategy Manager for EigenLayer, providing a gateway to the EigenLayer ecosystem. The primary Renzo’s function is to ensure the security of Actively Validated Services (AVSs) and offer a higher yield compared to ETH staking. By abstracting all complexities, Renzo facilitates seamless collaboration between end-users and EigenLayer node operators.
What is EigenLayer
EigenLayer pioneers Ethereum restaking, an innovative concept where already staked Ethereum can be used for lending security to other elements of the mainnet — bridges, protocols, oracle networks, scaling solutions, and more. This allows stakers to earn additional rewards from these entities, helping compound gains. This guide delves deeper into EigenLayer, taking a closer look at its mechanics, benefits, risks, and overall impact on the Ethereum network.
EigenLayer caps
Due to EigenLayer caps, at the time of writing Renzo only accepts ETH for restacking. ETH deposits are never capped.
When LST caps open on EigenLayer you can deposit stETH and wBETH. Get your stETH and wBETH ready for when EigenLayer caps open.
So, let’s restake ETH with Renzo, for which read the guide below.
Step-by-step ETH restaking guide
Step 1. Launch Renzo Protocol App
Step 2. Connect your Ethereum wallet
Step 3. Enter the amount of ETH you are going to restake and click Confirm
Step 4. Review the transaction information and click Confirm Transaction
Step 5. Confirm transaction in your wallet
Step 6. Once the transaction is confirmed, it will be possible to track it on Ethersca
Now we’ve got a liquid restaking derivative — ezETH. Go to the Portfolio tab to view your earned your EigenLayer Restaked points and staking rewards
What kind of rewards Renzo will give for restacking?
Annual Percentage Rate (APR) is astandardized metric used to express the cost of borrowing or the potential return on lending or staking a certain amount of cryptocurrency over a year
Within the EigenLayer ecosystem, users participating in restaking activities are amassing “restaked points,” potentially setting the stage for future airdrops, reminiscent of the strategy observed with AltLayer. To accumulate EigenLayer Points, users must restake their LSTs within the EigenLayer system
Total amount of EigenLayer Restaked points captured by Renzo will be distributed 100% to ezETH holders
You can earn 1 ezPoint per hour per ezETH
What is ezPoints?
Renzo points are meant to reward users who contribute to the success of the protocol. Starting with the Renzo Beta mainnet launch on December 18th, 2023, every participant in the Renzo ecosystem will receive points. The number of points will vary on the time duration and nature of participation.
The first way of receiving points will be by holding ezETH. Renzo rewards every participant that mints or holds ezETH in their wallet. ezETH holders receive 1 Renzo ezPoint per hour for every ezETH they hold. In addition, users will receive boosts for early participation.
Investors
One of the key points indicating that the company can be trusted is the presence of investments from a number of major investment funds in the crypto world
Thus, Renzo Protocol allows to stake ETH to produce the liquid staking derivative ezETH. In addition users can get EigenLayer points and ezPoints as a reward for staking.
