Introduction

By now, most people probably already know what happened. For those who don't, I'll briefly recap the entire situation so you have a clear understanding of what's going on.

A few days ago, Hedge (the owner of BSD) flew to Turkey to relax and party. During that trip, all of his belongings were stolen, including his devices, passport, and other personal items.

Shortly afterward, all of his accounts were compromised. His cryptocurrency was drained, and the BSD GitHub repository was deleted.

At the moment, Hedge has virtually no means of communication. The last time anyone heard from him was on the morning of June 10.

The Beginning

The first thing worth discussing is who actually did this.

According to the available information, it was @wanev, someone who was reportedly quite close to Hedge.

What makes the situation even stranger is that he didn't exactly try to keep it a secret. Instead, he openly told multiple people that he was responsible for what happened.

Screenshots and testimonies suggest that he personally claimed involvement in the incident.

What's even more unusual is that this person is not known for lacking money. Because of that, the motivation behind his actions appears to be personal rather than financial.

In one private conversation, he allegedly claimed that he had "paid the right people" and that those individuals allowed the Turks into Hedge's hotel room.

According to his own statements, the security cameras were also disabled at the time. He even bragged that Hedge would never physically recover his MacBook or iPhone.

At the moment, there is no reliable way to verify these claims. As a result, all we can do is take his statements at face value and wait for Hedge to provide his own account of what happened once he is able to re-establish contact.

Unfortunately, screenshots of these private conversations cannot be published at this time for personal reasons.

It doesn't seem like he needed the money.

It looks more like he wanted revenge for something, or had some kind of personal grudge. At this point, nobody can say for certain.

Hedge's Telegram Account

Since all of Hedge's devices were stolen, whoever obtained them also gained access to his accounts.

From Hedge's Telegram account:

• All collectible gifts were transferred away.
• Administrative ownership of the BSD channel was reassigned.
• Administrative ownership of the BSD chat was also transferred.

At first glance, it may seem that the gifts were transferred directly to Wanev or one of his friends.

However, that doesn't appear to be what happened.

Instead, the gifts were transferred to the account of an acquaintance who reportedly wasn't even aware of the full situation and merely acted as an intermediary.

Whether you believe that explanation or not is entirely up to you.

Still, the fact that this person allegedly received exactly the amount needed for the transfer and gained nothing from it personally raises some interesting questions.

The account that ultimately received the gifts has since been deleted, making the entire chain of transfers look even more convoluted.

Another odd detail is that not all of Hedge's gifts were taken.

His rose gift and several relatively insignificant collectibles were left untouched.

The BSD Channel and Chat

After Wanev obtained administrative privileges in the chat, one of the first things he did was remove the existing administrators.

However, there was one exception.

HPDev had an invisible administrator role that could only be removed by Hedge himself.

Since Hedge's account is effectively gone and inaccessible, nobody could remove HPDev.

Because of that, the BSD chat was eventually recovered.

There are many theories regarding why things were left in this state.

The truth is that nobody can be completely certain about anything right now.

Suspicious Details

Conclusion

Right now, there are still far more questions than answers.

A huge amount of misinformation is appearing out of nowhere, making it increasingly difficult to separate facts from rumors.

Regardless of everything, I sincerely hope Hedge is safe and that the situation eventually gets resolved.
